Thoughts While Shaving

Memorial service for fallen heroes, held Wednesday at the Bladen County Sheriff’s office, very impressive, and well attended…Among those remembered were:

Roy Franklin Fores….former Bladenboro Chief

Marvin James (Jimmy) Bell….former Elizabethtown Chief

Joe Ramey…..former Bladenboro Police Officer

Brian Collins….former Bladen County Deputy Sheriff

Dewayne Charles Hester….former Bladen County Deputy Sheriff

The most recent to be remembered included Bladen County Sheriff Detention Officer James Ara Smith and Master Trooper Kevin Conner.

Mother’s Day Sunday, lest you forget, and just days away from the Annual White Lake Water Festival…

Growing older has few advantages, numerous handicaps for an old ‘poot’ like me…seems something always needs repair or some kind of attention, and I am ‘not good’ at fixing anything.  I need a part-time helper, a Mr. Fixit….to do what needs to be done….few, maybe none interested.  My friends tell me, I need patience, just be patient…..short on that as well….sorry, truth be told, life is good, better than I deserve.

Election still underway….Vote your conscience.  Three offices to be filled, 9th District US Congressman, a Bladen County Commissioner and a couple of members to serve on Soil and Water Conservation Board.  Thousands of dollars being spent to hold elections, and very few voters participating, so I am told.
