Springtime has arrived, spring sports at the 2 high schools in the county have completed regular season play, but some individual athletes and a team or two are involved in post-season play.  Exciting times…

East Bladen’s baseball team (18-6) defeated #1 seeded Midway (21-2) recently to extend their season.  Next opponent is N.C. School of Science & Math (15-1).  John Clark has updates on BladenOnline sports page.

Reminder of the White Lake Water Festival this weekend, followed by Memorial Day the following weekend.  The water at White Lake is crystal clear and inviting to all.

Golfing fund-raisers on the horizon…Bladenboro Rotary Club will hold their annual fundraiser on Thursday, May 24 and there are others..

Another election wraps up tomorrow (Tuesday), the 9th Republican Congressional Primary, as well as a General Election for District 3 Bladen County Commissioner seat, and two members elected to serve on the local Soil and Water Conservation Committee.  Confusing….We should know if we will have a second primary or a general election, next in the congressional race.  For losers, no problem, just hang around and file early next year for more of the same.

Another great outing for MacKenzie Gore, Columbus County native, and hot pitching prospect for the San Diego Padres baseball team.  Gore’s Lake Elsinore Storm 1A team lost 8-0 to San Jose Saturday night.  But, another good performance by Gore.  He pitched 5.2 innings, gave up 4 hits, 1 earned run (a homer), recorded 7 strikeouts, tossed 89 pitches including 58 strikes.  Storm relief pitchers had a tough night.

Currently the flower business is blooming.

Why are frogs so happy?  They eat whatever bugs them.

When do people start using their trampoline?  Spring Time
