Sometimes life is a pain in the back side, sometimes it’s all peaches and cream…Prefer the later…

Cade Hancock, Elizabethtown student-golfer at Mt. Olive College is off to a great start as a freshman.  He posted a 2 day score of 145 recently in the Cutter Creek Invitational, in Snow Hill helping his team finish third in its first tournament of the year.

Construction is expected to begin Monday morning on the long planned roundabout at the intersection of NC 41 and 410 near Bladen Community College.  I have already detoured a time or two.  Just followed the signs….

East Bladen at Whiteville and Fairmont at West Bladen Friday night football….Jayvee games tonight.  Both varsity teams off to an 0-2 start…

Seldom a day goes by with no high school sports, tennis, soccer, tennis, volleyball…check our Sports Page for schedules and results.

Mackenzie Gore continues to receive accolades…San Diego’s top prospect has been named the 2019 MLB Pipeline Pitcher of the Year.  He completed the season, pitching 101 innings, Single A & Double A, racking up 135 strikeouts, a 1.69 ERA before the Padres shut his season down in August.  Returned after a month off, walked the first batter and proceeded to strike out the next five in a row before reaching his pitch count.  The former Whiteville Wolfpacker has a bright major league future if he remains healthy, and all goes as planned.

East Bladen’s Sincere Smith was hitting .333 mid August, but went hitless in his last 6 games.  The 19-year old is in the Yankees farm system, playing in the Gulf Coast League in Florida.  His batting average against right handers was .327, but struggled against lefties, batting .160.

Never give up on something you really want.  It’s difficult to wait, but worse to regret.

Road to success is always under-construction.

Learn from your mistakes.
