Thoughts While Shaving
Spread the love

Thoughts While ShavingThe past week was an eventful week, some good news, some bad, some very bad….

When was the last time you shed a tear, whatever the reason?  Were you driving, maybe in the bathroom?  Most likely alone in your secret place.

Am I wrong to think that the folks with least experience give the most advice?  I am reminded of a friend long, long ago who shared, ‘give advice sparingly and only when requested’.  Nothing has changed.

Don’t know about you, but in moments where little is going on I think of something or someone from days gone by….Like the Hester Carter store, near Bladenboro High School when I was a student there, a member of the class of ‘1956.  The store was off-limits for students, but it was visited often by a few students.  Nothing wrong with the business, just supposed to remain on the campus.  Some could slip down and back and never have a problem…not me, every time I went seems our ag teacher needed to go as well…We were both on foot, but not together.  He was headed for the principal’s office and I was acting as if nothing had happened, headed back to my next class, knowing that a visit to the principals office was a sure thing. In those days there was a detention hall, where you visited for bad behavior. Occasionally, I shared the class with some of my best friends…My attitude then; nothing ventured, nothing gained. Not shared by my ag teacher, principal, or my parents when they were made aware.

For beautiful eyes, look for the good in others; for beautiful lips, speak words of kindness; and for poise, walk with the knowledge that you are never alone.  Audrey Hepburn

In every walk with nature one receives far more than he seeks.  John Muir

Adopt the pace of nature: her secret is patience.  Ralph Waldo Emerson

Work like you don’t need money.  Love like you’ve never been hurt.  Dance like nobody’s watching.  Satchel Paige

There is a wisdom of the head, and a wisdom of the heart.  Charles Dickens
