Monday was another beautiful day in Bladen County, NC. Today should be as well … Sunny, with a high near 77 and windy, gusts up to 16 mph. Mostly clear tonight, low around 54. Wednesday, a slight chance of showers and thunderstorms after 3 p.m. Mostly sunny, with a high near 82 … winds increasing to near 11 mph, and a 20% chance of rain. Looking ahead, Thursday, mostly cloudy, with a high near 73, and high temp thru the weekend in the low to mid 70s.
Been asked several times recently about 3rd stimulus check from Uncle Sam, to be truthful, did not know there was another ’til being asked over the past few weeks ago … Short answer, NO.
Was on a Zoom call recently, not a bad way to meet occasionally, but … will be happy when pandemic is over and we revert back to the way it was prior to … COVID-19.
I realize some folks begin to make plans for vacations for after the youngsters are out of school, but what about this year, anyone brave enough to pay a deposit for a June, July or August trip? Hopeful, but not ready to make such a commitment? I understand, refunds are an option … but…
I have stated before we were share-croppers, big family always looking for a better deal … Occasionally, we would go to Ocean Drive Beach, S.C., now North Myrtle Beach … usually in late September, sometimes a weekend in early October … It was nice, but cool to cold … but better than not going … Other option was a ‘dip’ in a local millpond … Speaking of millponds, remember when baptismal services by local churches were often held at a millpond (ex. June Singletary Pond, north of Bladenboro). Never hear of that today … same place where we went fishing…
