Thoughts While ShavingInteresting how some weeks speed by and some d-r-a-g.  It is still Friday.

Read with interest about the termination of Ted Voorhees, Fayetteville City Manager.  Does not mean he is a bad manager, or works with a bad board, sometimes priorities change.

I spent several years working with county commissioners and county managers across the state.  Sometimes the parting of ways is the result of sickness and fatigue.  They get ‘sick and tired’ of each other.

Had a friend (Phinn Horton), happen to be a city manager, who told me more than once that he knew many old managers and many bold managers, he knew very few old, bold managers.

Voorhees will most likely soon be working at another location and be OK, and Fayetteville City Council will hire a new manager and they will be OK.

A reminder, there are many activities planned in the area this weekend, most listed on BladenOnline.com.

The Town of Elizabethtown will manage and police the US Locks and Dam No. 2 park.  Should be a huge improvement over recent years.

Today’s featured 1977 baseball team is the Elizabethtown Braves team.  Members of the team included:  Keith Clark, Stevie Tatum, Robert Tatum, Steve Patterson, Vinnie Campbell, Mark Gillespie, Randy Hill, Blake Rogers, Scott McDowell, Carl Barnes Jr., Benjamin Ballard, James Rhodie, Victor Campbell, Rodney Long, and Daryl Davis.  Coaches were Bud Clark, Carl Barnes and Marvin Tatum.

One final reminder, April 15 means time to file tax returns.  The deadline has been moved or ‘pushed back’ to Monday, April 18.

It is not the size of a man but the size of his heart that matters.  Evander Holyfield
