May 1 arrives Thursday … means about one more month of school this school year … and farmers will be busy…
May is a busy month for many … and youngsters look forward to it … Usually the last few days of the current school year … Remember hot summer days in May … and no air conditioning at school … That was years ago…
May Day Jamboree is set for Saturday, May 3rd at Lu Mil … 2 to 8 p.m. Admission free … numerous food vendors … A good time for all.
I keep hearing much about the news of the day … And I am not attempting to add to or take from … but I was a member of the Jaycees many years ago … and some of what I heard sounded familiar…
Jaycees was a popular organization, all across the US and here in Bladen … and some of what I was hearing reminded me of The Jaycee Creed.
We believe;
That Faith in God gives meaning and purpose to human life;
That the brotherhood of men transcends the sovereignty of nations;
That economic justice can best be won by free men through free enterprise;
That government should be of laws rather than men;
That earth’s great treasure lies in human personality;
And that service to humanity is the best work of life.
