How about this weather? No complaints from this corner … and, more of the same is in the immediate forecast…

Today, Sunny, with a high near 87 and a nice summer breeze in the 3 to 5 mph range. Mostly clear tonight, low around 55. Thursday, sunny, with a high near 84 … Change on the way … showers are in the forecast beginning Thursday night and continuing thru Sunday … 20% early, increasing to 50% chance Saturday and 70% Saturday night and Sunday…

A lot of emphasis on fiber in areas where it is not now available … Federal and State government making matching funds available in rural areas. Star Telephone has secured grants and loans in the $40 million range, still need more … it’s expensive … More emphasis due to folks working from home, students at home and other services including tele-a-medicine in some areas of the state and nation … and everyone wants it ‘now’. Upgrades have occurred in Bladen and more are expected … Another problem in this area … a huge county, sparsely populated … you can travel for miles and serve very few homes and businesses … And, commercial companies have little to no interest … understandable … They are private, for profit companies…

I find myself trying to decide if I should or should not wear a mask … I am vaccinated, as are most of my friends … and if wearing a mask is not needed … makes me happy … but don’t want to cause a problem for those I come in contact with … I have one near by at all times … just in case…

Anyone remember ‘whooping cough’?

Don’t think I ever seen such a disruption as the current pandemic … and hope there will never be another, but we never know…

Wonder if COVID-19 causes more crime? Don’t know but seems to be an epidemic as well…

Wish those who toss garbage onto our roadways cared a little more…
