Thoughts While Shaving
Spread the love

Greetings on Thursday, April 9. It’s been a month since the beginning of the COVID-19 outbreak in the US. Been a tough 30 days for just about everyone. Hopefully better days are just ahead … however, the news is still not good.

New York Governor Cuomo reported Wednesday (yesterday) that another 779 died in a single day in that state, bringing the total to 6,268, which was more than twice the number of people who lost their life in the September 11, 2001 attacks…

The good news, if you can call it good … is that the number of new cases seems to be flattening out.

Guess we are all looking for any evidence of better days ahead, and soon.

Don’t know about others, but I need a break from all the bad news, so my bride, my neighbor and I take an afternoon drive about every day … do not meet anyone, unless it’s in a retail outlet where we are looking for paper products … think we solved that issue for a few days, as of yesterday … just riding through Bladen County. There aren’t many roads we haven’t traveled, some numerous times. If that’s breaking someone’s law, sorry … More than likely we will do it again late today…

Stock market soared yesterday … good news for many, great news for retirees. Last thing I want to face is a longer life with only Social Security…

Then I think about those with so little to provide for their family and in some instances children hungry, living in poverty and little hope of a better tomorrow. Sad … thankful those among us who work with those situations. … I know, I should as well … I do support financially some groups that do assist…

My prayer is better days ahead, and soon.

“Hope is the thing that feathers that perches in the soul – and sings the tunes without the words – and never stops at all.” Emily Dickinson

“My great hope is to laugh as much as I cry; to get my work done and try to love somebody and have the courage to accept the love in return.” Maya Angelou

“Learn from yesterday, live for today, hope for tomorrow. The important thing is not to stop questioning.” Albert Einstein
