So much to think about today … not the least is the weather (storm on the way), nice news articles about Coach Russell Priest who died Thursday, COVID-19, medical centers right-sizing, and the stock market closing on a high for the month of July.

August has arrived … average high temp is 87 compared to 89 for July, and average low is 65 compared to 67 for the previous month and average rainfall is 5.8 inches compared with 5.5 for last month.

Still hot and our first serious threat of a hurricane for North Carolina is near. The center of Isaias is expected to approach the southeast coast of Florida today and should be along the southeastern coast of North Carolina Monday. Current forecast for Monday is showers and possibly a thunderstorm. High near 86 and a 90% chance of rain. New rainfall amounts for Monday and Monday night is in the range of 2 to 3 inches … No doubt it will be windy … Stay tuned to your favorite source for weather for more info…

Tributes are ‘pouring in’ for long time East Bladen coach Russell Priest who died Thursday … His funeral is set for Sunday, on the East Bladen baseball field … check our obit page for details…

Many big name businesses reporting huge earnings and stock is rising … Facebook, Amazon & Apple among the leaders … looks good in 401Ks and other such retirement instruments.

Local and nearby hospitals continue to recall furloughed workers or terminate … Will be good if we ever return to ‘near’ normal.

Bet I can tell you your source of national news just by listening to your conversation…

“George Washington is the only President who didn’t blame the previous administration.”

“A politician is an individual who will lay down your life for his country.”

So, if we lie to the government it’s a felony, but if they lie to us its politics.” Bill Murray
