Checking schedule for Bladen County public schools, Board of Education meets Monday … open house on August 22 and students begin new school year, Monday, August 26.

Monthly lunch meeting of the Chamber is scheduled for Tuesday, August 13, noon at Goldston’s Restaurant, White Lake. Speaker will be Jim Godfrey, executive director of Mary’s Kitchen. He previously was director of the Shelby Chamber of Commerce and Kinston Chamber. His topic “What a good Chamber looks like!”. Cost is $9 per person and members and their guests are encouraged to attend.

All preseason fall sports practice for Bladen County public schools are underway … temps in the 90s early part of week, dropping to mid 80s by Friday. And, pretty good chance of showers and thunderstorms several days.
