Is there anything more uplifting than hearing from a friend….family, or someone from the past, unexpectedly? I am not sure what it would be…Had that experience recently…A friend from work days…..in fact, a couple in the past few days say they plan to visit in the not-too-distant future…Kind of a picker-upper…One told me between now and Thanksgiving…giving himself plenty of time, I suppose.
And the rain came down…brief, but strong…about a quarter of an inch at the local weather station at the airport..during the noon hour yesterday. One wind gust clocked in the 30+ mph range…Not totally unexpected…NWS forecast was on target…Lasted about 30 minutes…
Speaking of rain…..Local weather station reported another 3/100th of an inch in the 5:30 p.m. time frame at the same site. The high temp Thursday was 91.
A slight chance (40%) of a shower today after 11 a.m. Sunny, with a high near 93…. a 60% chance of rain tonight from 8 p.m. to 2 a.m. Mostly cloudy, with a low of around 72.
Saturday…Hot…mostly sunny..high near 94…heat index as high as 106…
Sunday…Hot…hot…Sunny with a high near 98…

The Clarkton Lions Club is sponsoring a blood drive Saturday (tomorrow) from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the local fire station…Each donor will receive a gift card that can be redeemed at numerous local area retail outlets….The best part of the deal…helping someone who needs the blood.

Folks are anxious for fiber for their home and business…Star TMC is laying fiber in areas around us and the commercial companies in more populated areas…It can’t come fast enough…but Bladen is a big, big county, sparsely populated…less than 30,000 residents…It would be nice to wave a magic wand and make it happen…Unfortunately…doesn’t work that way.
It should be a busy weekend at White Lake…and in Elizabethtown restaurants at ‘eating’ times… as well as retail outlets…The more, the better…
School is back in session….watch for eager students waiting for the school buses…..
