Another air related mishap caught the attention of NASCAR fans Thursday afternoon. Dale Earnhardt, his bride, daughter and 2 pilots survived a mishap at Elizabethton, Tennessee, airport. All were treated and are apparently OK. Earnhardt, retired driver, and now TV commentator, will take the weekend off. NASCAR race in Bristol, Virginia, this weekend.

A couple of other tragic reminders related to NASCAR folks and Bristol Speedway. In 2004, a Hendrick Motorsports airplane crashed in the same general area, 10 killed including John Hendrick, president of Hendrick Motorsports, and his twin daughters. And in the mid-90s, NASCAR driver Alan Kuwicki was killed in a crash at Tri-City Regional Airport, Blountville, Tennessee. He was one of four. They were making a promotional appearance promoting the spring race.

No doubt, NASCAR fans remember…

A week from tonight, the 2019 high school football season officially begins. West Bladen vs South Brunswick at 7 p.m. and East Bladen entertains Wallace-Rose Hill. Game time 7:30 p.m,. according to their schedule.

When I think of high school football, so many athletes I remember from days gone by, as well as coaches. It’s a wonderful time of the year.

White Lake summer season is winding down. It’s been a hot season, water levels a concern, but still a great place to spend some time, a little fun in the sun.

The tans will fade but the memories will last forever.

August is like the Sunday of summer.

Summer is a state of mind.
