Thoughts While ShavingA recent article in the New York Times, related to the weather indicates, “Summer temperatures have become hotter and more extreme in recent decades, and the health effect of extreme heat can be severe.” Continuing, “About 35.2 million people….11 percent of the population of the contiguous United States….live in the areas expected to have dangerous levels of heat.”

We live in such an area… Temps are not as high as in the deep south… examples, Florida, southern Louisiana, and areas in the lower parts of California… but all along the lower US, mid-USA and even in some areas in the far western USA, along the border of Canada, in the mid-western USA… temps are in the 90s.

Short and long is… It’s hot, been hot, and more hot weather is on the way… Kind of looking forward to September and October…

Forecast for this day… Friday, August 18, 2023… Sunny, with a high near 92… Tonight, partly cloudy, low around 69. Saturday, Sunny, with a high near 91… Sunday’s high is expected to be in the 94-degree range.

One long-range forecast indicates September temps will be a few degrees higher than the average for the time of year…

Monday’s… high near 96… Tuesday, 97… Wednesday, 94. Thursday, 91… all partly cloudy to mostly sunny… Air-conditioned areas have never felt better…

All I have to say about the weather…

This is traditionally a busy time of the year… Plan ahead. Check our ‘Upcoming Events” section. Back to School, high school football, college football, NFL action upcoming, a World Series a few weeks away, and the PGA Championship event actually underway… NASCAR and more.

For farmers, time to get serious about harvesting the fields… If not now, soon.

and Ricky Fowler
Lucas Glover, the winner of the previous two matches, is tied with a large group at even par, 70.
