Health professionals are warning again of worse days ahead related to COVID-19 … I hope not … but I have my shots, I wear a mask when in a crowd … Was hoping the virus was going away … only about 40% of our friends and neighbors have their received shots … Call or visit the Bladen County Health Department for more info … Shots are free…

Watched the weather forecast yesterday … including a day-long warning about the possibility of stormy weather in Bladen, Columbus, Pender, Brunswick counties … My bride and I decided we needed to go uptown and pick up a couple of items … low and behold we were in a storm, a bad storm … Heavy rain, near zero visibility … Fortunately we were only about a mile from home, and thankful for a carport…

Checked rainfall totals at the nearby airport … a little over half an inch … shortly after 5 p.m.

Our weather forecast indicates a good chance of rain just about every day this week. Only a 20% chance today and 30% tonight … High temp today near 88, low tonight around 71. Rainfall is predicated to range from 70 to 80% Tuesday thru Saturday … High temps expected to range in the upper 70s to mid 80s all week long…

Years ago we would likely be celebrating the opening of the Border Belt tobacco markets … Clarkton, Lumberton, Fairmont, Chadbourn and Whiteville … but no more.

“August is like the Sunday of summer.”

“If only we could invoice people for wasting our time.”

“Work is just something I’m doing until I win the lottery.”
