Thoughts While ShavingDow Jones Industrial Average took a big time hit yesterday…

North Carolina’s long time Senator Richard Burr (R) is retiring after a long career in D.C., first as a Congressman and 18 years as US Senator. He has apparently done a pretty good job over the years, was identified as one in Congress who purchased stock when maybe he should not, based on the rules, but all in all, quietly worked behind the scene, respected by those he worked with and for. He cautioned members of both parties Wednesday from using impeachment for purely political motives … “Congress should resist the temptation as just the newest form of political opposition.”

For what it’s worth, I agree … Too many games on both sides when time could be better spent on doing the work of the people and less time looking to the next election…

Tar Heel’s Brandon Council is completing his college football career, a long career, mostly due to ‘on the job’ injuries … I remember him as a freshman at West Bladen High School … a big man who played hard … Now he is being honored for years of hard work … Hopefully, next move, a long career in the NFL, if that is what he chooses…

Sunrise at 7:14 AM today and sets at 5:06 PM … One of the shortest days of the year…

We had between 1/2 to 3/4 inches of rain over the past 24 to 36 hours … depending on location, could use more, but thankful for what we did receive…

44 degrees at 6 AM…

Mostly cloudy through mid morning, then gradually clearing, with a high near 56 degrees and windy, gusts as high as 20 mph. Mostly clear tonight, with a low around 36. Saturday, mostly sunny, with a high near 56, wind gusting as high as 14 mph.

When spreading Christmas cheer … dollars … Remember Southeast Carolina Crossroads and others who depend on us to keep them providing their services.

Christmas Cantatas throughout the area … Elizabethtown Presbyterian Sunday AM and again late Sunday PM … Google for time and other locations…

“Blessed is the season which engages the whole world in a conspiracy of love.” Hamilton Wright Mabie

“Christmas is not as much about opening our presents as opening our hearts.” Janice Maeditere

“I wish I could put up some of the Christmas spirit in jars and open a jar of it every month.” Harlan Miller
