Saw an obit for a friend of mine recently … He was Alexander County Manager (Taylorsville). Running does not guarantee long life. He was in his early 70s and ran somewhere just about every weekend for many years … some as long as 100 miles … I only run on special occasions … and then for just a few steps…
Rode over to White Lake … a vehicle ahead had traffic backed up for much of the trip … running about 40 to 45 miles per hour … no place to pass, some passed anyway. Not me, would be my luck to meet a law enforcement officer … The trip was worthwhile … White Lake was beautiful … like a huge blue painting … smooth as glass…
Think back to something young men (boys) do, or did do … not bad, not good … Like many other males, I carved a set of initials in a tree … Not heavily traveled area … in the woods … Bet someone, sometime wanted to know what that was about, and who would do such a thing … I would never tell … at 13 to 14 years of age, you fall for the opposite sex, often … Been over 70 years ago … probably no sign of it today…
