75 years ago, my younger siblings and I would go into the nearby woods … equipped with a dull ax and look for a Christmas tree … Mom would help us clean it up, put in place, with a homemade star on the top … more homemade decorations, no lights, place in living room near double windows and admire … and wait for Santa … huge dreams, low expectations and usually not disappointed … maybe a ball and some clothes … up to 5 siblings at any one time…
