Thoughts While Shaving
Spread the love

Weather is in for a change, big change. Forecast for today … Sunny, with a high near 49. West wind 10 to 14 mph, with gusts as high as 25 mph. Tonight, clear skies, with a low around 28.

Have a big oak tree in my yard and usually many leaves scattered everywhere, but with gusts in the 25 mph range, I may have leaves, but most likely from somewhere else.

Thinking about my younger years in the Zion Hill Church area near Bladenboro, ’bout hog killin’ time … but not with strong winds … just cold weather … Could ride throughout the area and see others doing the same thing … big outside fire to keep warm … fire glowin’ under the wash pot and a hog hangin’ by its hind feet and all the adults busy … Never cared for hog head cheese … hams, side meat, shoulders, stuff sausage, all hangin’ in the ‘smoke house’. Don’t see much of that anymore … We are too busy … Frankly, I would not know where to begin … Years ago for many, it was about survival…

Remember pitching horse shoes, real horse shoes?

For me, time has slipped by … don’t carry grudges anymore … Can’t remember against whom and why … Just go to bed, say my prayers, hopeful of a good nights rest, thankful for the good health I do enjoy…

I am among men most richly blessed…

Too often, being an adult is just walking around wondering what you’re forgetting.

The older I get, the earlier it gets late.

How do you know your old? People call at 9 p.m. and ask, “Did I wake you?”

I tried to explain to may grandson that it’s perfectly normal to accidentally poop in your pants, but he’s still making fun of me…
