Thoughts While Shaving
Spread the love

Thoughts While ShavingTwo more weeks before Christmas.  Hopefully we remember the reason we celebrate.

For many, a festive time of the year but for others, very stressful.

Temps are up today and that is good, maybe a few showers.

Church choirs across the county are putting final touches on Christmas Cantatas.  Check info on time and location on our Church page, and if yours is not listed, email info to us and we will share with all.

A couple more Burma Shave ads from the 30s through the 60s along our major highways:

Keep well/To the right/Of the oncoming car/Get your close shaves/From the half pound jar/Burma Shave.

Our fortune/Is your/Shaven face/It’s our best/Advertising space/Burma Shave.

How about a few more ‘thoughts’ shared by Penny Johnson, who moved away from Bladen years ago but stills reads BladenOnline:

BRITTANY (age 4) had an ear ache and wanted a pain killer.  Seeing her frustration, her mom explained it was a child-proof cap and she’d have to open it for her.  Eyes wide with wonder, the little girl ask: ‘How does it know it’s me?’

MARC (age 4) was engrossed in a young couple that were hugging and kissing in a restaurant.  Without taking his eyes off them, he asked his dad: “Why is he whispering in her mouth?”

TAMMY (age 4) was with her mother when they met an elderly, rather wrinkled woman her mom knew.  Tammy looked at her for a while and then asked, ‘Why doesn’t your skin fit your face?’

JAMES (age 4) was listening to a Bible story.  His dad read: ‘The man named Lot was warned to take his wife and flee out of the city but his wife looked back and was turned to salt.’  Concerned, James ask: ‘What happened to the flea?’

Such innocence……..

For NFL fans, NY Giants 10 – Dallas Cowboys 7.
