Northeastern defeated Whiteville 24-14 on Friday in Elizabeth City in the Eastern championship of the N.C. High School Athletic Association 2A football playoffs. Wolfpack season ends with 13-2 record. It was its first time reaching the East finals since 1987. Well done, Wolfpack.

Often think back to children plays … had one short line to share … nearly scared to death…
I shared sometime in the past … Years ago when there was more civic clubs than now in our area … I was a member of the local Jaycees. We sponsored a party for disadvantaged youngsters … Had a good response … One youngster that usually came with a brother did not come … When asked about his absence … His reply … “We only have one pair of decent shoes, and tonight I am wearing then” … So sad, to real…
