Yesterday was a cold day in rural Bladen County, NC, USA … High temp … 41 degrees … Overnight low … near 20 degrees … about as cold as it gets in this part of the world…
Today, a better day, weather-wise … Sunny with a high near 50 … but expecting another cold night … tonight … Clear skies with a low around 29. Sunday (Church Day), sunny with a high near 61 … And beginning Sunday night, hopefully a break in the cold weather and a chance of much needed rain…
50% chance of rain Monday, Monday night and Tuesday. An 80% chance of rain Tuesday night and Wednesday … Would be nice…
Question! Ever think where we would be without rural co-ops to provide electricity and phone service? … We take it for granted … Our rural co-ops do what the “for-profits” could not and have not done … provide service for all of rural Bladen County, NC and around the nation … and improvements continue to come … Did not happen overnight and some still coming … I never dreamed as a youngster living in rural Bladen County that one day we would have electric service and phone services, including high speed internet … Not complete, but most funds have been approved to do just that … Many areas have enjoyed for some time … I agree … and slow coming in some areas … but a promise is more than we had for years…
The rural co-ops are and will continue to make a difference … and for those still underserved … it just takes time … and without the co-ops it would be never … For-profit providers could not, and have not … Thanks to Four County EMC and Star Telephone, Bladen County will have all the services as others … not yet, not next week, but it is here, or will be soon … How soon? It’s on the way … and thanks to the federal and state agencies who have assisted by providing funds … I wish it was all here now … but impossible … but our federal government that we talk junk about is providing most of the funding … Don’t give up…
One more thought … Whoever is funding all the frustrating telephone calls for Medicare of Medicaid are using up the patience of many … JUST STOP the calls…
