Ever ride down the road and see a small tree that is shaped-well like a Christmas tree … Reminds one of yesteryear when we shopped in the woods … Not many of those kind anymore … and most decorations were hand made…

We have a promise of rain today … 100% chance … The forecast is for showers, mainly before 4 p.m. High near 51 (47 degrees at 5 a.m.) New precipitation amounts are expected to be a half to three quarters of an inch. Rain all gone by late today, overnight mostly clear, with a low near 33. Thursday, mostly sunny, with a high near 54 and a northeast breeze around 6 mph.

Could have more rain Sunday night … forecast is for showers likely, 60% chance … We need it…

Remember when the temp dropped, it was hog-killin’ time? Often, it was a neighborhood event … Seldom see that today…

This aging process is not all good … sometimes can be cruel…

I enjoy seeing youngsters face ‘light up’ when they see the bright lights of the holiday season…

Activity ‘picking up’ at the Board of Elections … It is filing season … Three incumbent commissioners filing for reelection … Arthur Bullock from District 1, Charles Ray Peterson representing District 2 and Rev. Cameron McGill in District 3. Three incumbents have filed for Board of Education … Gary Rhoda, Cory Singletary and Vince Rozier. Jon David has filed for DA and William Brisson has filed for reelection to the NC House.

Jason Britt and Althea Dixon Weaver have filed for Clerk of Court. Beverly Parks has filed for reelection for Register of Deeds, and Gary S. Edwards for Sheriff … The filing deadline is noontime December 12.
