Today … Monday … A chance of showers before 11 a.m., then a chance of rain after 5 p.m. Mostly cloudy with a high near 65 … A south breeze in the 5 to 7 mph range … And a 40% chance of rain. Tonight … Showers, mainly after 8 p.m. … low near 53 … and an 80% chance of precipitation … New precipitation amounts between a tenth and a quarter of an inch…
Same type forecast for the next couple of days … Tuesday … Showers likely before 1 p.m. Partly sunny with a high near 73 … winds could gusts as high as 15 mph and a 60% chance of precipitation.
Tuesday night, showers with thunderstorms, also possible after 1 a.m. Low around 59 … wind gusts as high as 20 mph … Chance of precipitation … 100% … greater amounts possible in thunderstorms.

The high school football season is over for most schools … Playoff games continue … Nearby, the Whiteville Wolfpack continues play … They will play #1 seeded Northeastern Friday night … away…
May have mentioned … Ashley Smith, East Bladen grad, has announced his retirement as Gastonia City Council Attorney … some time after the 1st of the year … He will have served in that position for 30 years…
Not sure why this thought … Remember the song “Two old to cut the mustard” … If memory is not playing tricks … Ernest Tubb and Red Foley recorded the song … some time in the early 50s…
Remember to say a prayer for our friends in western NC … Have spoken to some who have been to some of the areas … So much damage … will take years for many to recover … Local churches, businesses and individual have, some continue to provide, support, financial and other ways…
