Warmer days means baseball time is drawing near … from little league to the majors…

I was never much of a fisherman, but recall as a youngster, our parents taking us to some local fishing hole … usually in a creek or some other fishing hole … Never had much luck, fortunately, escaped the snakes … Nice family outing….

With the price of a gallon of gasoline over $3 … thought about gas wars years ago … One dealer would lower the price, competition would do the same … Lowest I ever paid was less than 20 cents per gallon, more like 15 or 16 cents … Was in Charlotte in the early to mid 60s. Never hear of such any more … understandable…

I remember my early days at Hinson’s Super Market in Bladenboro … 5 pounds of sugar, 49 cents, a loaf of Merita or Holsum bread, 19 cents. I never smoked, but popular name brand cigarettes, 19 cents a pack … Top pay, $1 per hour … that was in the mid to late 50s…

Final thought, recent weather has been great … OK, a little windy, but not bad…
