Spring sports will be taking center stage soon.

Remember when Bladenboro and Elizabethtown had semi-pro baseball teams in the Border Belt League?  Growing up in Bladenboro, I was more familiar with the Spinners.  They were sponsored by Bladenboro Cotton Mills and drew large crowds.  Good times.

Clarkton was one of several tobacco markets in the Border Belt area in the 40s, 50s and 60s.  Others included, but not limited to, Whiteville, Chadbourn, Lumberton, Tabor City & Fairmont., .  So much has changed over the years.  Senior citizens in the area no doubt remember listening to the Fairmont Tobacco Report on WFMO.  Charlie Stafford was Sales Supervisor and he would begin his daily broadcast, “Mr. and Mrs. Tobacco Farmer and all you little tobacco farmers.”  Those were the days my friend.

Remember when public service was respected?

Why would anyone ‘fool around’ with drugs that kill?  Dealers should be dealt with in a serious way.  Understand federal laws allow tougher penalties.  Put them away for as long as it takes to get their attention.  Lest we forget, if there was no demand, there would be no dealers.

I’m not bossy, I just know what you should be doing.
