Best I can tell, as of 5:30 AM Friday, our area has had over 5 inches of rain in the past 24 hours, and more is on the way. The total was my ‘feeble’ effort to add totals at the Curtis Brown Airport, an official weather station location…

Forecast for today … Showers likely, mainly before 3 p.m. High near 44 with wind in the 8 mph range with gusts as high as 15 mph. Mostly cloudy tonight, gradual clearing and a low around 29.

Saturday … finally, sunny, with a high near 46.

Sunday, Sunny, with a high near 50 … More rain possible Sunday night and a 50% chance for Monday.

Better forecast beginning Monday night thru Thursday …. mostly sunny in the daytime highs in the 60-plus range and overnight lows in the upper 30s to mid 40s…

We do not need more rain at this time … fields look more like lakes and driving is hazardous on many local roads…

Years ago would be time to bring out the Monopoly board, checkers or some other game that would occupy adults and youngsters time for a while … Maybe read a book or study your Sunday School lesson … Oh yes, few churches having Sunday School … mostly worship services only.

Would think it is tough on merchants, mostly small merchants … Shop local when you can…

If you think it’s tough times in Bladen, think of all those strugglin’ with cold temps and no electricity. Fortunate for us, best I can tell, no long time outage of our power system … hopefully none…
