Thoughts While ShavingToday is the day, Super Bowl Sunday.  For NFL fans, just doesn’t get better.

Quick recap:

Atlanta Falcons vs New England Patriots in Super Bowl XI being played at NRG Stadium in Houston, Texas.  Gametime is 6:30 PM on FOX.

Locally, the 2017 Elizabethtown Dixie Youth reverse raffle and dinner appeared to be a huge success.  Good meal, a chance to see friends that do not see on a daily, weekly basis and raise money for a worthy cause.  Proceeds benefit the local, upcoming Dixie Youth season.  Volunteers can now spend most of their time with the youngsters without worrying about the finances that keep the program for several hundred, moving forward.  250 tickets were sold.

Speaking of local athletes.  I enjoy following the youngsters who go on to play college ball like the Murchison twins of Elizabethtown headed to NC State,

Abby Walters of Bladenboro, UNCP stand-out athlete, now into the softball season,

Rahu Purdie of White Oak, having another super year at Lander in the Peach Bowl Conference,

Clint Allen, another West Bladen grad playing baseball for Coker.  He had a great day yesterday as he and his Cobra teammates swept a double-header from Chowan in Murfreesboro, NC.

One of the latest announcements is Hunter Pait, West Bladen Linebacker, going to Wingate to play football.

There are others in days and years to come.

John Clark covers Bladen County sports like no other, and I appreciate.  Check BladenOnline Sports daily for updates.

Enjoy the day and the Super Bowl.
