Thoughts While ShavingHappy New Year, hope 2016 will be the best ever.

A quick look back.

The weather was a huge story, dry weather early, followed by lots of rain, a total of over 63.5 inches for the year. Normal rainfall in Bladen County is 48 to 50 inches annually.

Needless to say, the wet weather was not good for farmers. Still see cotton, soybeans and even some peanuts in the field and not likely to be harvested. Seed, fertilizer, chemicals and many hard hours of work invested and nothing to show for it.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average, a basket of 30 stocks, lost 2.2%, helped drag the stock market into negative territory, the worst year since 2008.

Locally, there was much news, too much drug related.

And there was good, many efforts of help and kindness to those in need.

Today, the Polar Plunge will take place at Camp Clearwater for those brave enough to take the plunge. I will not participate, could not find my bathing suit. (smile)

Some interesting sports news. Clemson and Alabama will square off for the NCAA Football Championship. The #1 ranked Tigers defeated Oklahoma 37-17 and #2 Alabama shut out Michigan State, 38-0. The two teams meet Monday, January 11 @ 8:30 p.m. (Bladen County time), at Glendale, Arizona (Phoenix Stadium).

So how did you rate 2015? We all dream of a more successful, productive, fun-filled 2016.

For BladenOnline…….Very good year and The Best Is Yet To Come.
