While we were sleeping, just like the weather folks predicated, we received rain, as of 5:30 a.m. totaled about a half inch at the Curt Brown Airport … Began about 10:30 p.m. and ended near 1 a.m. We could use more … but thankful for every drop.

The sound of a siren during the night is an eerie sound … Always say a little prayer … like, ‘Lord, please be with whoever is in need of assistance’. We are fortunate to have paid EMS … remember when we depended totally on rescue squads … and before that, funeral homes provided the service … All provided a much needed service, but EMS is better trained and available 24/7/365. Yes, sometimes the siren is from law enforcement … Thankful for them as well.

NFL regular season play is over … moving on to the playoffs … Super Bowl can’t be far away…

Remember Mick Mixon? Former UNC color person for basketball and football, and more recently broadcasting Carolina Panther games … He is retiring, moving back to Alamance-Chatham County (Burlington) area, purchased a farm and plans to be a gentlemen farmer … When he was color person for UNC football and basketball, he often visited our area … enjoyed a round of golf at the local course … guessing … ’bout 20 to 25 years ago.

Any of your friends or family dealing with the virus? Can be tough to deal with…

Weather forecast for next day or so … Gradual clearing today, with a high near 49 and windy … clear tonight and cold, ’bout 25 degrees. Tuesday, sunny, with a high near 43 … Long johns and a warm jacket needed…
