Thoughts While ShavingChanges going on with a couple of regional news agencies.

The Fayetteville Observer has been sold to a company that owns numerous newspapers nationwide, ending many years of local family ownership.  And, the TV line up in our area has  changed.  For sometime WILM in Wilmington has been the area CBS affiliate and WWAY our ABC affiliate.  Now, best I can tell, WWAY has added another channel and becomes the CBS and ABC affiliate, and there is some simulcasting on their local newscast.  WILM will continue to offer news service from WRAL TV.  Confused, not sure I totally understand.

Bladen County Commissioners begin a long term commitment to the public and to each other.  With 4 new commissioners, seating arrangements change, leadership has changed.  Interesting to watch as the board begins functioning as a unit.  No different from the past, just more new members than usual, and all have thoughts and commitments that will be made known as they begin their terms, especially during the upcoming budget.  We wish them the best.

I listen to high school and college sports coaches as they speak about commitments by and to their team members if they are to be successful.  Must trust each other to carry out their duties and responsibilities and to work together.  Wonder what team members might about a lack of trust and commitment by our state and political leaders,  and how the coaches explain their actions.

I like President-elect Trump’s response to the latest midnight meeting by some US House members, voting to change rules of the Ethics Committee.  Like him or not, he has a ‘backbone’, often missing by many politicians.

2016 property taxes are due, have been due for several months.  If you pay after tomorrow, January 5, a penalty will be added.  No complaining if you have to wait to pay.  They were due September 1, 2016.

Repeats:

I love this:  The cheapest way to have your family tree traced is to run for public office…

I have often regretted my speech, but never my silence.

Service is the rent we pay for our room on earth.
