Yesterday’s high was a “cool” 44 degrees … Overnite low … brrrrr … low 20s.
Today … Sunny with a high near 44 with a northwest breeze in the 5 mph range … Tonight (Wednesday), clear skies with low around 21. Thursday, sunny with a high near 40 … winds gusting as high as 15 mph.
Thursday night … Mostly clear with a low around 20 … It’s been a long time since we had such low temps…

High Friday, near 43…
High Saturday … near 47 degrees … and an 80% chance of precipitation…
High Sunday … near 46 … near 50 on Monday … Tuesday … near 48. Been a while since such low temps for an extended period of time…

A friend shared this news … “Smithfield Foods, the world’s largest pork producers with a massive N.C. Operation, filed for an initial public offering that will return the maker of Farmer John sausage and Gwaltney bacon to the U.S. stock market.”
Quoting, “The IPO comes 12 years after the Chinese-owned WH Group took the Smithfield, Virginia based company private in a $4.7 billion acquisition. At that time, it was the largest Chinese takeover of a U.S. Company.”
The news release continued, Smithfield’s operations in the town of Tar Heel make it Bladen County’s largest employer, with more than 5,000 employees in North Carolina. Overall, it has 930 contract hog farms and more than 10,000 employees in North Carolina, the company has said.
The news release continued … The return of Donald Trump to the White House poses a risk if Congress follows through with immigration reform proposed by the incoming president, according to Smithfield’s filing…
“If new immigration legislation is enacted, such laws may contain provisions that could increase our costs in recruiting, training and retaining employees, increase our costs of complying with federal law in reviewing employees’ immigration status and create employee shortages,” Smithfield said…
