Some days I would love to have a few minutes with my Grandpa Hester. He died many years ago. He seemed to be able to put things in perspective. Best I could tell, he never got to ‘bent out ot shape’ about the world situation. He was perfectly happy to work, “he walked 2 or 3 miles, everyday” to Bladenboro Cotton Mill, attended church on Sunday, and after Sunday lunch, he listened to the Chuch Wagon Gang on his battery operated radio. Never heard him discuss politics, never heard him bad-mouth his employer, never worried about an automobile, never had one … He was a good man … never told me he loved me … didn’t need to … I just knew he did … Never heard him talk politics or about politicians … Bet he prayed for them, down on one knee, talking to the Lord … His name was Kingsbury Hester … He lived a simple life. Wish I was more like him … In plain talk, he had his ‘stuff’ together…

If you had one wish that could be dealt with, what would it be?

Saw the story about the lady fishing at Jones Lake recently and ‘snaggin’ a billfold that apparently had been in the water for 30, maybe 40 years or more … Can you imagine the look on her face when she told her fishing buddies about what her catch…

One word describes the weather … HOT, forecast for the next 6 days … 90 degrees or more … A slight chance of showers and thunderstorms after 1 p.m today. Partly sunny with a high near 91 and a 20% chance of rain … Tonight, partly cloudy, with a low around 72. Wednesday, a 30% chance of showers and thunderstorms before 8 p.m. High near 92.
