Thoughts While Shaving for July 15

July 15 … Deadline for filing 2019 taxes … Uncle Sam wants to hear from you … Deadline for filing extended from April 15 until today (July 15) due to issues related to COVID-19.

Understand some who filed in February and early March are due a refund, but haven’t received … Mail flows both ways…

We have been averaging a few degrees above normal for July, average is 89 degrees … Heat in excess of 90 has been more of the normal in recent days…

Today’s forecast … slight chance of showers and thunderstorms after 1 p.m. Mostly sunny, with a high near 92, and a 20% chance of rain. Chance of rain increases to 40% later in the week.

Concern was expressed by some relating to the announced construction of a new bridge over the Cape Fear River at Elizabethtown … NCDOT apparently overspent early, and the project is on hold … Some concern related to White Lake traffic … no problem, less traffic, period.

Virus issues still a concern … and school officials, locally and across the US, wrestling with how schools will operate … no easy answers. Schools, parents and students could suffer for years to come … Hope not … Internet issues a concern for many … improving, but still an issue.

One thing you can depend on … a tax bill will arrive soon from local governments…

I enjoy Lou Holtz one liners and quotes…

“I can’t believe that God put us on this earth to be ordinary.”

“No one has ever drowned in sweat.”

“I never learned anything talking. I only learn things when I ask questions.”

“The man who complains about the way the ball bounces is likely the one who dropped it.”
