Welcome to NC Dixie Youth Baseball State Majors, players, coaches and supporters, to Elizabethtown … Hundreds will be in town this weekend for the playoffs … Division 2 opening ceremonies and games began yesterday … Division 1 play begins at 10 a.m. today and will continue all day long … We wish all well … but there will be a winner and some losers … One game that will be of special interest is the 8 p.m. game today, pits Elizabethown vs Bladen County.

We welcome all and wish the best … All games at Leinwand park in Elizabethtown … Other teams are coming from Columbus County, Robeson, Stanley and Pender County, Duplin and Hoke, Brunswick and Sampson counties … Hope I did not overlook any team … Welcome to Bladen County…

Visited Southeastern Carolina Crossroads yesterday … a fire earlier this week caused substantial damage to tools, tractors and other items … also, all the clothing that had been delivered for those who needed it was lost. They do have insurance, but may not cover the losses … Donations are welcomed … Drop off at Bladen Baptist office located at 108 Mercer Mill Road or at their location in the Bladen State Park … 1086 Susie Sandhill Road … Cash is welcomed … Their work with those suffering from drug and alcohol addiction continues … FBI has investigated fire, apparently an electical spark caused the damage.

We often hear complaints about this, that, or the other, much directed at government agencies … Had a compliment for one Bladen County agency recently … The Bladen County Animal Shelter … The comments were along this line … Karen Suggs and her staff (paid and volunteers) do a great job … it’s difficult work … working with animals … many unwanted, some dumped along the roadways or picked up, but the folks at the animal shelter take care of all … I am not a regular visitor, but was told when anyone goes by they are greeted by Stumpy, a cat … the official shelter greeter … Love to pass out compliments…

Welcome to all the lake goers this week … Welcome to Bladen and White Lake…
