Thoughts While ShavingSad story coming out of Oklahoma related to Tyrek Coger, a 6-8, 230 pound basketball player. He died during basketball drills at Oklahoma State University.  He played last year at Cape Fear Community College in Wilmington.  The highly recruited youngster choose OKS, over several other schools including Old Miss and Missouri.  One article indicated he had an operation when he was in high school to remove fluid from around his brain, and was forced to decommit from Missouri and attended Eastern Florida State before transferring to Cape Fear CC to be near his family.  He was born in Elizabethtown, NC, the second oldest of four brothers, according to several news sources.  He attended school in Wake County and played high school ball for Word of God Christian Academy in Raleigh.

Summertime in Bladen County means temps are expected to be in the 90s, and that is our forecast for the weekend.

High school football practice begins in just over a week, on August 1.

A reminder of the Sunday FunDay beginning at 1 p.m. Sunday, (tomorrow) at White Lake.  A tractor pull and numerous other events will take place on the old airport site across from the Scotchman.  Music, food, a good time for all, and you are invited.

Well, now we know the rest of the political story, sort of.  We know the actors, VPs for both parties have been named and the race is on.  The next big date, Tuesday, November 8, 2016.  One party will celebrate and the other will ‘fold the tents’ and get back to a more normal routine.

I remember when Halloween was the scariest night of the year.  Now, it’s election night.
