Bladen County is one of three unbeaten teams remaining in the Dixie Youth World Series being played in Sterlington, La. Sports Complex.

Local team plays two games today, first at 1 p.m., Louisiana time (2 p.m. Bladen County time). If they win, play again at 8 p.m., local time If they lose the first game, they play at 7 p.m. (local time). The games are streamed live on lspn.live. Not ESPN, but better than no coverage…

I enjoyed yesterday’s game. Coach Rusty Hill’s team had their ‘hitting shoes’ on.

All that ongoing while the Elizabethtown AAA (Minors) Dixie Youth team prepares for their midweek trip to Ruston, La. for another World Series beginning this weekend.

In the meantime, Clarkton’s Kayla Thompson tied for 22nd place recently in a LPGA event in Tennessee, picking up a check. She is a West Bladen and UNCW grad, hopeful of a successful career as golf pro.

In men’s golf, Cade Hancock placed fifth in the Carolina’s Junior Golf Tournament played at River Landing near Wallace. Both articles on our Sports Page.
