240 years ago the Declaration of Independence was adopted by the Second Continental Congress meeting in Philadelphia, Pa.  Representatives of the Congress announced that the Thirteen American Colonies were no longer under British Rule, that they had formed a new nation.
Did you know that the term “Declaration of Independence” is not used in the document itself?
