White Lake fireworks were very good Friday night, a day late due to inclement weather.

Speaking of the weather, Thursday rainfall totals in local areas ranged from near none to 4 inches or more. Had one report of a quarter of an inch, several in the 3 to 4 inch range. We are thankful, but more is needed. Temps in the 90-plus degree range for extended period of time, combined with little rainfall, have caused serious problems, especially for local farmers .. has also caused some problems at the Lake. Water levels are low, beautiful, clear water, but low.

White Lake is a huge asset for Bladen County and beyond.

Taking a look at average rainfall totals for Bladen County:
June: 4.6 inches
July: 5.5 inches
August: 5.8 inches

For many, July 4th, 5th, 6th, all just another work day.

Sound like a broken record, just the facts.

We often dream of a vacation in a far away place, while many in far away places dream of a vacation in Bladen County.
