Happy Fathers Day to all…

It’s also summertime, 2020 … nearing the midway point of the year. … Next holiday … July 4th. … Local governments have adopted a budget for the coming year, or will do so in the next week to 10 days. … Deadline is June 30 … and a local tax notice is sure to follow over the next couple of months…

For senior citizens, birthdays are coming faster, or so it seems…

I attended a funeral recently for one of my ‘buddies’ from long ago. … Began to think about all who come into our lives, some remain, some we see occasionally, some we seldom or never see … and how our friends help make us who we are. … This friend was one of my “buddies” as a very young person. Our friendship ceased as we grew up, grew older … no problems, just went our separate ways. … He was perfectly happy where he was, married, had children and grandchildren, as I did, but in our journey through life we make new friends and others are kinda ‘crowded out’. … Saw him recently at a funeral of another of our friends from long, long ago.

Friends come and go, some we never hear from, some we do, but we learn from all. … All help to make us who we are. … This person seemed to enjoy family, never left the community where he grew up. … Obviously, enjoyed his family and was content with a quiet, simple life. … He made a lasting impression on me … a positive impression. Don’t have to climb a social ladder to be happy. … Life is what we make of it. … I have wonderful thoughts of our younger days … glad our paths crossed many years ago…

Deaths on holidays are a little more difficult to deal with, or so it seems…

It’s the friends we meet along the way that help us appreciate the journey…

Good friends are like stars … You don’t always see them, but you know they’re always there.

“A good father is one of the most unsung, unpraised, unnoticed, and yet one of the most valuable assets in our society.” Billy Graham
