My how time flies! We are at the midway point of 2021. Time waits for no one … Actually, good to realize we are moving on after over a year ‘bogged down’ in a pandemic related to COVID-19. Still a lot of sick folks … Vaccine is available, at no cost … Reach out to the Bladen County Health Department for more info.

Thinking about time flying, we are just hours away from the end of June and the second half of the year. Checked your New Year’s resolutions? How are you doing?

East Bladen’s Zack Mears named Three Rivers Conference ‘Baseball Player of the Year’ … He was 7-0 on the mound with an ERA of less than 1, he struck our 79 opposing batters and batted a hefty .382. Congratulations … A great year … Whatever his goal in life, we wish him the best.

2021 Dixie Youth Baseball coach-pitch tournament in Clarkton this coming weekend (July 2-6). About 200 youngsters are expected to participate … no admission charge…

My bride and I take a short drive from time to time … change the scenery … What I have discovered, when I prefer to travel at a slow pace, every one else is in a hurry and when I am in a hurry, nothing but slow-pokes on the road … I understand … Just deal with it.

I miss little country stores throughout the county … As a youngster, I thought about how much fun it would be enjoying a soft drink and a pack of nabs or a moon pie and ‘shooting the bull’ with friends. Now, no country stores … and not sure if moon pies are even available now…
