Thoughts While Shaving
Spread the love

Was wide awake, early this a.m., like 3 a.m. All kinda thoughts … mostly good…

Remember in the 60s, 70s, and 80s when WBLA presented the obituary column of the air? Sponsored for years by Kinlaw Funeral Home of Elizabethtown … 2 minutes long … just listed the deaths and a short commercial for the sponsor … followed by a 10 to 15 minute devotion by the Bladen Ministerial Association…

The Ministerial Association rotated speakers, my guess, of those who were active in the Association. … I must confess, I cannot remember many … but included in those I do recall was the first Rev. Link (Clarkton Presbyterian), who was in charge of lining up speakers … all denominations and all races. … Remember Rev. Fred Davis (Trinity UMC) and Rev. Jerry Wallace (Elizabethtown Baptist, later President of Campbell U), there were numerous others from all over the county…

Now, pray tell me why wake up with that on my mind?

My guess, churches all over the county are planning Sunday services, heard of many who will be inside … maybe not in the sanctuary, but multi-purpose type facilities where services can be held and have enough space to accommodate responsibility, larger groups … for those who feel comfortable attending … during these unusual times…

So, what’s on your agenda for today??? Should be a good day to visit the lake. … Weather forecast … Partly sunny today, with a high near 91, and west wind 6 to 8 mph. Tonight, cloudy with a low around 71. Sunday, A chance of showers and thunderstorms, mainly after 1 p.m. Partly sunny, with a high near 90 and a 30% chance of rain…

And, a good day to cut grass … or weeds…

Friendship flows in two directions. You must give as well as receive.
