Thoughts While Shaving for June 8

A late night tweet from President Trump indicated the U.S. has reached an agreement with Mexico that heads off the start of tariffs on Monday. One tweet down, no doubt, more to come.

We’ve come a long way … remember when we sent messages on a penny post card.

Still no rain, well, no measureable rainfall in many areas. Still have high hopes…

In 1952, Bladen County had three county commissioners. That changed in 1954 to five, then in the mid to late ’80s it increased to 9.

1950 was 29,703,
1980 — 30,491,
2010 — 35,190,
2014 — 35,179,
2019 — 35,165

Population is decreasing, number of commissioners tripled. Nothing to do with anyone serving today, changes occurred over the years, before their time on the board.

Three commissioners in 1952 were M.L. (Milton) Fisher, Luther Brisson and C.A. Priest.

If you are traveling this weekend … drive safely. Number of vehicles on the roads constantly increasing … or so it seems.

Congratulations to all graduates at all levels.
