Thoughts While Shaving
Spread the love

March 1, 2020 … can you believe?

Time changes a week from today … spring forward … means the clock on our auto will be correct for the first time since last time change…

Woke early yesterday … as I do just about every morning … checked the guide on TV for events that I may be interested in viewing … ACC basketball, PGA play, NASCAR qualifying and racing … Watch Larrell Murchison participate in the NFL Scouting Combine … Usual busy Saturday for an over 80 year old senior with many excuses for not doing anything that I do not care to … but missed most of what I had planned…

Had an invitation to attend the 50th Anniversary celebration of a dear couple, a noontime event that worked well with my plans … well attended, a special event for two deserving friends … good food and fellowship. (A high)

That’s when the schedule began to change … from one high to a low and back again … several times throughout the afternoon. … A family member wanted to talk about a business deal that he felt he was not being treated fairly, that a twice discussed deal on the telephone had not been completed as promised and he needed to share. (?) “Sometimes you get, and sometimes you get got”. … Then learned a friend of many years had died, the grandmother and great grandmother of our next door neighbor … (a low)

Received a text that our only granddaughter had received news she had passed her “must” day long test from the previous day and the only thing standing between her and being a full-fledged, card caring member of the Dental Society was a few more weeks in her last rotation in northeastern North Carolina and a graduation ceremony at ECU Dental School in early May … (a high)

Had promised my bride to go with her to a visitation of a long time friend and extended family member in the Burgaw area. … So off to the funeral home we go (?) … and shared the roadway with at least 4 deer on the way home … they observed and we observed but did not formally meet … (a high) thank goodness…

Missed all the sporting events … did see rerun of some of Murchison’s scouting combine activities … (a high). … Applied medication for skin issues to my nearly bald head (?) and went to bed … could not sleep (a low)…

Thought if I shared, get all out of my system … go to church and confess, that this could be a HIGH. … To be determined.

Highs, lows … I am among men mostly richly blessed and I am thankful…

Sorry … ‘spilled’ all my ups and downs at the first opportunity. … My apologies…

Ever have those kind of days? As one of my friends told me years ago … ‘just one of the little whiles of life’…

“How far you go in life depends on your being tender with the young, compassionate with the aged, sympathetic with the striving and tolerant with the weak and strong. Because someday in your life you will have been all of these.” George Washington Carver

Live simply, love generously, care deeply, speak kindly and leave the rest to God.

Every path has a few puddles. (have used this on many occasions)
