Thoughts While ShavingWoke early this AM … just slept out … thinking about events along the way, good and not so good … Actually feeling sorry for myself … recently replaced heating and cooling, duct work and all … and days later refrigerator ceased operating … replaced it … Just brought back memories from days gone by … The trip has not been without issues. We replaced our heating and cooling for nearly the same costs for construction of our house in the early to mid sixties … how inflation has caused concerns … Then I thought about working for $1 an hour on my first job, prior to having a family … All in all, despite inflation and all my concerns and frustrations, income has not been bad … never enough, but not bad … I am one blessed individual…

One thing that helped to put everything in perspective, was a recent photo of our nearly 2 year old great-granddaughter, playing on a slide board … Can’t imagine the changes to come in her lifetime … In the meantime, let her be a little girl, play, learn and have fun … and I will deal with my issues … large and small…

One more thought … Our young neighbors just returned from Disneyland … 2 youngsters under the age of 6, maybe 5 … Tired, but for those young ones and their families, memories that will last a lifetime … Priceless…

Unsettled may be the best description of our weather for the next 48 hours or so … Mostly cloudy today … windy and a 30% chance of rain, new rainfall amounts less than a tenth of an inch … More of the same tonight, a 40% chance of rain, low near 60. Friday, windy, high near 77 and chance of rain is 30% … More of the same Friday night…

Looking ahead, the forecast from Saturday thru Wednesday is for sunny, clear or mostly sunny with highs from mid 60s to near 77 on Tuesday … No rain mentioned in the long range forecast and we need some rain…

Remember when folks gathered at Zion Hill Baptist Church, near Bladenboro, to pray for rain … I heard folks say … when brother Kingsbury prays for rain, better bring the umbrella … He was my grandad and a good man, but maybe a little too strong endorsement…
