Thoughts While Shaving
Spread the love

Had a little extra time yesterday, watched a few innings of a spring training game between Cubs and Dodgers … Dodgers scored 10 runs in the 2nd inning, used 3 pitchers and Cubs eventually lost 15-7 … I thought about all the times I have enjoyed sporting events … beginning with Little League many years ago … high school ball, had son who played college and in the minor leagues and have had the pleasure of visiting numerous big league parks … and broadcast lots of local high school football games … So many good memories…

Along that line of thinking I am a huge fan of Mackenzie Gore, the Columbus County prospect drafted #1 by San Diego a few years ago … Great press, but last year was not good for anyone or anything with the pandemic. Gore is 22 years old, a pocketful of money, a ton of talent and hopeful this could be the year. He is among the ‘untouchables’ on the Padres roster … Most recent outing had control problems in the first inning, but total control in the 2nd, including a couple of strikeouts … Pulling for him to be on the big league roster, but may begin in the minors … He is labeled a ‘sure-fire prospect.’

Every day another friend having health issues … some dying, others hospitalized or homebound. Thankful for my apparent good health … including aches and pains … No complaints…

So easy to think about the bad things in life … but, like the old hymn … “Count your many blessing name them one by one, count your many blessing see what God has done” … Helps to re-program the body, soul and mind…

Bet like many others, I am happy where I am, doing what I want to do, with a good, supportive family … and friends…

Today’s weather forecast … A slight chance of showers after 1 p.m. Cloudy, with a high near 66. North wind 8 to 10 mph, with gusts as high as 17 mph and a 20% chance of rain. Tonight, a slight chance of rain, otherwise, mostly cloudy, with a low around 54 and a slight northly breeze and a 20% chance of rain…
