Surprise, surprise … As I grow older do not like to procrastinate … If it must be done … do it. I attempt to pay a little extra on my Federal Withholding monthly, all year long … I know, some say not me … but, I had rather be owed at the end of the year than to owe … Always file early, take a ‘whipping’ if I must or receive a small refund … Filed a week ago, pleasant surprise this AM, received my measly refund … Can assure you uncle Sam is still doing OK, marked that off my got-to-do list ’til next year … Mission accomplished…

First few days of March have lived up to reputation … March winds have arrived … No change today … Rain likely, mostly before noon. Cloudy through mid morning , then gradual clearing, with a high near 59. Northeast wind 8 to 11 mph with gusts as high as 16 mph … Better forecast beginning tonight and for the next week or so … Tonight clear with a low around 37. Thursday, sunny, with a high near 65 and windy, in the 5 to 9 mph range…

Big happenings in Bladenboro and in the Elizabethtown Industrial Park … The Bladenboro project, a joint effort by the town, Bladen Agri-Industrial and Bladen County Commissioners … Old Bridger Drug Store, adjacent doctor’s office, and former barber shop building, Tom Hales grocery store, Robert Hickman Ins., old Bank of Bladenboro building, and former Hinson’s Super Market building, all coming down in an attempt to revitalize the area, hopefully begin a return to a time when it was a vibrant area … New businesses … lots of excitement…

More new industries in the Elizabethtown Industrial Park, additions for some … Activity is ongoing, and positive … All in an effort to create new and better jobs … and add more tax base … Exciting times…

For job seekers, enroll at Bladen Community College and prepare yourself for something better…
