Welcome to Daylight Saving Time … Like it or not, it’s that time of the year…

Did not realize we had some many clocks and watches…

According to some sources, Daylight Saving Time was suggested by Benjamin Franklin in his essay “An Economical Project for Diminishing the Cost of Light,” which was published in the journal de Paris in April 1784.

Franklin’s suggestion was largely overlooked until it was brought up again in 1907 by Englishman William Willett, who penned a pamphlet called “The Waste of Daylight.”

Many other countries changed their clocks when adjusting time, but the United States only began doing so towards the end of World War I in an attempt to conserve energy. The House of Representatives voted 252 to 40 to pass a law “to save daylight,” with the official first daylight saving time taking place on March 15, 1918.

Originally, clocks were sprung forward on the last Sunday in April and turned back on the last Sunday in October, but the Energy Act of 2005 shifted the start of daylight savings time to the second Sunday in March and the end to the first Sunday in November…

That’s the shortened version … of Daylight Saving Time…

Love this time of the year … NASCAR, PGA, Major League Baseball kicks off another season in coming weeks, March Madness, NBA continues play, seem like year round … High school baseball, softball, soccer, track, golf, etc. Bet I missed several … How about professional football in the spring time?

Should be a nice day, weatherwise. Sunny, with a high near 63. Calm wind becoming south around 5 mph in the afternoon. Tonight, mostly clear, with a low around 37. Light south wind…

Monday, Sunny, with a high near 70. Calm wind becoming southwest 5 to 8 mph in the morning…

Checked rain gauge for rainfall over past week or so … about 1.6 inches at the Hester household…

First day of Spring, Friday, March 20.

“In the Spring, I have counted 136 different kinds of weather inside 24 hours.” Mark Twain

“Spring is nature’s way of saying, ‘Let’s party!'” Robin Williams

“I trust in nature for the stable laws of beauty and utility. Spring shall plant and autumn garner to the end of time.” Robert Browning
