Biking event this weekend brought many visitors to the area … possibly some who may have never been before…

Hope the Cape River bridge is soon repaired. … White Lake season is drawing near…

Weather forecast for Bladen County:

Tonight…Increasing clouds with a low around 53.

Tuesday…A chance of showers, mainly after 2 p.m. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 73. Breezy, 30% chance of rain.

Remember when we would go into the woods looking for various types of berries … huckleberries (?) and briarberries … in the same area as poison ivy and poison oak…

Political season continues. … I hear what they say, but I see what they do … sometimes it does not jive…

3 strong candidates remain in the race for President … all 70 plus years old. … What happened to the youth movement?

“Make love, not war? By the looks of you, you don’t look like you could do much of either.” Then California Governor Ronald Reagan, encountering some hippie protesters.

“Don’t be so humble, you’re not that great?” Golda Meir, Israel’s first female Prime Minister using her favorite expression on various people, including visiting diplomats.

“Stop your nonsense and drink your whiskey!” Zachary Taylor, when it was suggested that he consider a run for president. He did it anyway and became the 12th U.S. president, serving only a year and a half before dying in office.
