Thoughts While Shaving
Spread the love

I rise early every morning, just a morning person and love it. Began on the farm, later ‘signed on’ at WBLA for years, traveled the state for 20 plus years, and enjoyed traveling to next destination early in the morning. Now a senior, senior citizens, still rise early. Old habits are hard to break.

Some mornings I have some ‘thoughts’ scribbled down, others no idea where to begin. Such was the case this AM. Had an email from #1 son, “This is where I wanted to be”, an article I suggest is good reading, especially for sports fans. It’s about Mike Martin, Charlotte native who has spent a lifetime as the baseball coach at Florida State University. The 75-year old is retiring, but needs five more wins. His team is 35-20. His teams have won 40 or more for many years, 3,022 wins in all. He and Carol, his forever bride, have built the legacy together. FSU will participate in the ACC tournament this week. Google ‘This is where I wanted to be.” Good reading.

Unlike other stories that greet us daily, mostly from our distinguished leaders, calling those that disagree, ugly names. Sure could use a little good news today … every day.

Memorial Day is expected to be a hot day, 90 plus, actually begins tomorrow, Friday. Plan accordingly.

I am not a huge fan of the lottery, but confess I do purchase a ticket occasionally. Have all plans in place if I were to win, but as of this day … have ‘struck out’. Have very little to show for my very small investment.

We need rain, farmers really need rain.

Purchased a few blueberries earlier this week … d-e-l-I-c-I-o-u-s. I recommend them, Bladen County berries.

Happiness is an attitude. We either make ourselves miserable, or happy and strong. The amount of work is the same. Carlos Castaneda

When one door of happiness closes, another opens, but often we look so long at the closed door that we do not see the one that has been opened for us. Helen Keller

You have brains in your head. You have feet in your shoes. You can steer yourself, any direction you choose. Dr. Seuss
